Daily 3-Bet: Ivey $econd Life, WSOP ME Redux, Buy Amaya

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a rowdy court room, an emphatic “overruled!” and a resounding thud of the afternoon poker news gavel.

Got a tip for a future 3-Bet? Drop us a note about it in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find Phil Ivey with a new shot at his Crockfords money, the WSOP Main Event gets a trim down and why one investor is hot on Amaya right now.

1) Ivey Appeal Granted

Remember that tiny £7.8 million Edge Sorting law suit Phil Ivey lost against London’s Crockfords Casino last year?

Phil Ivey
Great news, obv.

Turns out it’s not over after all.

The UK Daily Mail reported today that a judge has now granted him new permission to appeal the decision, saying his case “raises an important question of law” and has “a real prospect of success.”

Music to Ivey’s ears – not the least of which because he’s reportedly down almost $ 3.5m online this year.

“This is really great news,” Ivey told the Mail. “I am getting a second shot and I’m hoping we will win this time around.

“It is not in my nature to cheat, which is why I was so bitterly disappointed by the judge’s decision a year ago, even though he said I was a truthful witness.”

“When you’re accused of cheating it’s a very big deal in gambling. I’m not allowed in certain casinos because of what happened. But my colleagues have been tremendously supportive – they know what is cheating and what is not.”

Ivey’s appeal is scheduled to play out on Dec. 10. More from the Daily Mail here.

2) Edited WSOP Main Event Final Table Incoming

Have a hard time making it through to full three-day, multi-hour marathon of the 2015 WSOP Main Event final table?

The condensed edited version is set to debut on ESPN next week in a couple of different formats says host Lon McEachern:

New @wsop Final Table schedule @Kevmath ESPN2: Sun. Dec. 6: 10p-12a ET ESPN: Sun. Dec. 13: 5:30p-7:30p ET ESPN: Tue. Dec. 15: 8:30p-11p ET

— Lon McEachern (@lonmceachern) November 30, 2015

The first are two-hour episodes revisiting the complete final table and the final 2.5hr broadcast is the whole thing in one. In the interim watch Day 3 of the final table play out here:

3) Analyst: Amaya Stock Underpriced Right Now

Believe in Baazov?

A disappointing Q3 report, a continued push back of its return to New Jersey and an ongoing strike of 1,000+ players in protest of its upcoming changes to its rewards program.

On the surface things aren’t going well, at least image-wise, for PokerStars right now. That’s part of the reason, analyst Fredrick Steier says, it’s a great time to buy stock in PokerStars’ parent company, Amaya.

Writing for today Steier says Amaya’s current stock price of just under $ 16 USD is a big opportunity to buy an undervalued stock at a big discount.

Its value could in fact double in 2016, he says, as “participation in online poker continues to increase” and “online gaming is also slowly winning state approvals.”

The fact the company “repaid nearly $ 700 million in long-term debt” is also a good sign.

Check his full take on the situation here.
